How do I create a Patch?
Creating a Patch (a.k.a. an alert or automated workflow) involves selecting an automation Trigger and resulting Action, using Dispatch UI. Read on for a step-by-step guide.
You will need a Dispatch account to get started.
Once you have a Dispatch account, you can:
- Get alerts for smart contract activity
- Get alerts for balance changes & balance threshold crossings
- Use balance changes, smart contract event emissions and function calls to trigger emails, Discord or Telegram messages, and custom workflows via webhook
Creating your first Patch
A Patch consists of a Trigger event and a resulting Action (what you want to happen once the Trigger event occurs).
What you'll need to create your first Patch
- A Dispatch account
- The address of a smart contract or wallet (on a supported network) you wish to use as an automation or alert trigger
- A destination for your on-chain data (email address, Telegram account, Discord account, webhook URL, etc.)
We recommend using Dispatch on a desktop or laptop for the best experience.
Steps:
- Log in to your Dispatch account. For the best experience we recommend using a computer rather than a mobile device.
- Select a Trigger from the "When this happens..." dropdown menu in the Dashboard.
- Select an Action from the "do this" dropdown menu in the Dashboard.
- Press the "Complete Patch" button, which takes you to the Patch Builder.
- Finalize Trigger & Action details and turn your Patch on.
- Wait for data to start flowing 🎉
Save time with Patch Templates
You can also create Patches using Templates, which can be found on the Explore page in Dispatch.
Patch Templates already have a Trigger and Action selected to save you a few clicks. You can edit any part of the Patch preconfigured in the Templates, making them a great way to save some time.
